Mollycoddle Massage & Yoga

Welcome

Mollycoddle Massage was established by Laura Martin in 2014.

Initially offering offering Baby Massage, this quickly expanded in 2017 to include Baby Yoga & Toddler Yoga Sessions.

Offering a varied range of classes including weekly and drop-in sessions through to private groups and 1-1 tuition, and using local child friendly venues across the North East & Cumbria, each session is uniquely tailored to ensure that parents and babies are able to relax in a safe and caring environment.

Using welcoming locations, parents are able to work at their own pace to enjoy dedicated time with their infant. Mollycoddle Massage strives to create unforgettable experiences that you can share with your baby or infant in those precious early months in order to benefit the early development physically, mentally and emotionally.

About

My name is Laura Martin and I'm the proud mother of two amazing boys. My background evolved from working in nurseries for over 10 years, but when I gave birth to my first son 'Guy' I knew I wanted to change my career and work with children in a different way.

After completing an Infant Massage Diploma in September 2014 I began teaching classes locally soon after. Shortly before the birth of my 2nd son 'Finn' I began teaching weekly sessions at various baby friendly venues across Northumberland & Cumbria.

In 2017, after completion of my Infant Yoga Diploma & Toddler Yoga Diploma, I began to share these sessions with many more families, thus further expanding my business.

In 2018, I setup an additional side of my business after completing 200 hours of Yoga Theraputics Training, studying Vinyasa Flow Yoga and now offer these 'child free' sessions allowing you to achieve time-out for yourself. Having recently trained in Aerial Yoga, I hope to offer these sessions in 2019.

I'm fully DBS checked and hold certificates in Paediatric First Aid, Emergency First-Aid at Work and Safeguarding Awareness. My ultimate goal is to allow parents to experience time out with their baby in order to connect and relax with each other. For those parents who prefer a more intimate class, I also offer one to one and group sessions in the comfort of your own home or locally selected venues.

Baby Massage

Baby massage helps to develop a baby’s first language – touch. This is an essential element of human development, helping a baby to feel loved, secure and respected.

Benefits

Baby massage helps to promote a positive relationship between you and your baby. Through positive touch, massage promotes restful sleep and relieves symptoms of colic, constipation and sinus problems while strengthening your baby’s muscles and helping with joint flexibility.

Baby massage can also help your child to adapt to their new environment, promoting and building verbal and non-verbal communication between you and your infant. By enhancing the bonding experience, skin to skin contact releases Oxytocin – the love drug, relieving and reducing the incidence of Post Natal Depression.

Suitability

Baby Massage is suitable from birth and can continue for as long as your baby will allow. Although there is no upper age limit to baby massage, massage is adapted to suit the developing needs of your child.

What to bring

For each session you will need to bring your regular changing bag, nappies, comforters, feeds etc. and a blanket or towel to lie your baby on as we strip them down to nappies (or naked if they prefer).

Please see booking page for timing and pricing.

Baby Yoga

Yoga is a time for you and your baby to connect with no intrusions from the busy world we live in. It gives you the chance to develop your baby’s first language – touch.

Benefits

Bonding with them using a loving touch, respecting each other and connecting in a relaxing way, Baby yoga can give you the confidence in helping your baby adapt to the world around them, helping to aid any constipation, colic and wind. You can help strengthen and tone your babies’ muscles aiding their development. At the same time stretching your own body, being mindful of your posture and helping to strengthen your core.

Baby yoga can help reduce instances of fussiness by stimulating the release of serotonin, the happy hormone and oxytocin, the love hormone in you both. You have time in baby yoga to connect with your baby to learn those verbal and non-verbal cues helping you to gain a solid understanding of their needs while helping develop those important communication skills.

Babies are natural yogi’s because:
• They only breathe through their nose.
• They are only concerned with the here and now.
• They love unconditionally.
• They practice non-violence .
• Yoga postures are part of their everyday development.

What to bring

You will be actively participating in the class so should wear comfortable clothing that enables free movement and stretching. Allow your child to bring a comforter if they would like and your child’s normal bag.

Please see booking page for timings and pricing.

Toddler Yoga

Toddler yoga gives you and your child the chance to connect in a safe and relaxing way. It is an escape from the busy world we live in and can help you to rediscover your playful side, uniting as a family, respecting each other and connecting in a relaxing way.

Benefits

As parents, when we are relaxed, we respond to our children better, understanding their verbal and non-verbal cues – helping us to become more in tune with our developing child. We become more in touch with their emerging personalities, helping to strengthen the relationship between parent and child.

Toddler yoga can help increase your child’s awareness of their own body and the space around them, strengthening muscles and increasing joint flexibility. Yoga can aid co-ordination and brain development with certain stretches and movements that cross the body midline.

By practicing breathing we can help both you and your child develop ways to relax and stay calm, and these practices can be used in everyday life. Toddler Yoga will help to increase your child’s confidence in their own abilities and offer a celebration of what they can do.

Children are natural yogi’s because:
• They only breathe through their nose.
• They are only concerned with the here and now.
• They love unconditionally.
