Yoga is a time for you and your baby to connect with no intrusions from the busy world we live in. It gives you the chance to develop your baby’s first language – touch.
Bonding with them using a loving touch, respecting each other and connecting in a relaxing way, Baby yoga can give you the confidence in helping your baby adapt to the world around them, helping to aid any constipation, colic and wind. You can help strengthen and tone your babies’ muscles aiding their development. At the same time stretching your own body, being mindful of your posture and helping to strengthen your core.
Baby yoga can help reduce instances of fussiness by stimulating the release of serotonin, the happy hormone and oxytocin, the love hormone in you both. You have time in baby yoga to connect with your baby to learn those verbal and non-verbal cues helping you to gain a solid understanding of their needs while helping develop those important communication skills.
Babies are natural yogi’s because:
• They only breathe through their nose.
• They are only concerned with the here and now.
• They love unconditionally.
• They practice non-violence .
• Yoga postures are part of their everyday development.
It is recommended that both you and your baby have had your 6 week check before starting baby yoga. This is to ensure both you and your baby are safe to enjoy some gentle stretches.
You will be actively participating in the class so should wear comfortable clothing that enables free movement and stretching. Bring a blanket for your baby to lie on and any comforters they use along with your normal nappy change bag.
